How point-of-use filtration works

1

Water containing impurities enters the filtration system. This water may carry various contaminants, such as suspended solids, sediments, organic matter, and microorganisms.
2

Water flows through a filter media designed to trap and remove contaminants. Depending on the type of filtration system, the media can be sand, activated carbon, ceramic, or a specialised synthetic material. As water passes through the filter media, larger particles are physically trapped on the surface or within the pores of the media. Smaller particles may be captured through processes such as adsorption, where contaminants adhere to the surface of the media.
3

The now-filtered water, free from the captured impurities, exits the filtration system through an outlet. This clean water can be directed for further use or additional treatment if required. The filtration process is typically continuous, with water constantly entering and exiting the system, ensuring a steady supply of clean water.
4

Over time, the filter media becomes clogged with trapped contaminants, reducing its effectiveness. Regular maintenance, such as backwashing (reversing water flow to clean the media) or manual cleaning, is required. Depending on the type and design of the filtration system, the filter media may need to be replaced periodically to maintain optimal performance. This ensures the filtration system continues to provide high-quality water.
