How sidestream filtration works

1

A portion of the water from the main system is diverted into the sidestream filter. This water typically contains suspended solids and particulates that must be removed to maintain system efficiency.
2

Water enters the centrifugal separator at a tangent, creating a cyclonic flow within the cylindrical chamber. This high-speed rotational motion generates centrifugal force, which pushes heavier particles, such as sediment, dirt, and debris, toward the chamber's outer walls. These particles then move downward due to gravity and are collected in a sediment collection chamber.
3

The cleaner water, now free of heavier particulates, rises through the centre of the cyclone chamber and exits the separator through an outlet. This filtered water is then returned to the main system, improving overall water quality and reducing wear on equipment.
4

The collected sediment and particulates are periodically removed from the collection chamber. This can be done manually or automatically, depending on the system's design. Regular maintenance ensures the filter continues to operate efficiently.
