The Western Technology Centre in Oklahoma operates a large cafeteria kitchen serving students and staff. Severe scaling affected six tankless water heaters and a commercial dishwasher, resulting in regular downtime, chemical cleaning, and high maintenance costs.

The challenge

Six tankless water heaters required monthly descaling

Dishwasher and stainless-steel surfaces heavily coated in limescale

Dependence on harsh cleaning chemicals and labour-intensive maintenance

Previous wrap-around scale prevention device proved ineffective

The solution

After reviewing the system, Fluid Dynamics specified a full-site Scaletron installation. A 2” unit was fitted on the main supply line to treat all incoming water, with a ¾” unit installed before the commercial dishwasher and a ½” unit serving the ice machine and soda fountain. This provided complete protection across all water-using equipment, replacing ineffective devices and eliminating the need for chemical descaling.
